W.I.B.

(What Isn't Broken)

Motto: "Fixing what isn't broken"

This was the first robot River City Robots ever made. It was crude, heavy, and broke easily. The game for that year was pretty simple. Large plastic tubs were placed in the field and the robots had to try and stack them to gain points. The higher the stack, the more points the team gained. In the center of the field was a ramp and a simple bridge made of metal fencing. To gain extra points one of the teams' robots had to be completely on the ramp. This was not an easy feat for there was little traction and no walls or rails to hold on to or prevent the robot from falling off.

Our robot had a pretty basic design. The lifting mechanism was a pincer formed from two metal arms. They would bend down, close, and bounce back up. The arms didn't fully close around the tubs so often W.I.B. end up pushing the tubs around. In one match we actually got the robot atop the bridge.

The field specs are roughly similar ever year, just the exact width and length change along with other field components. The Alliance stations and guardrail are the same in height as well as in material. Safety rules are much the same and so are rules of positive competition.
