TTOP
Duties
include:
Assist with tracking student skills and
hours. Track and monitor parts inventory. Arrange meetings times and
places. Must be a detail minded individual and work well with
others. This is a leadership role. |

TECHNICAL
TEAMS

ROBOTIC CREWS |
Duties include:
Designs, constructs, tests, operates and maintains the robot. This
includes pit crew, competition scouts, human players, robotic
designers, operators, strategic planners, and electronics. It is
imperative that these individuals have the ability to adhere to
deadlines. This is a time driven crew. The team has 42 days, from
start to finish, to ship the 130-pound robot for competition. Individuals will be responsible for
programming the robot and will work closely with professional
programmers. Past programming languages have included C and Basic |

3d Animation TEAM |

If you answered B, this group is for you.
Create 30-seconds of animation that
clearly and creatively illustrates the effect of FIRST. Team will
work with Autodesk Software, provided by River City Robots. Entries
are eligible for the Autodesk Visualization Award. |
STOP
SPIRIT TEAMS
Duties include:
Produces and performs light-hearted skits for elementary and
middle school students. The team will work in conjunction with the
robotic operators and assist in demonstrating the robot’s abilities.

SPIRIT TEAM
|
Duties include:
Performs cheers during robotic
competitions, develops a team mascot, creates banners or flags and
designs buttons for promotional giveaways. Students also may be
required to act as host or hostesses to greet other teams. The
spirit team is a very visible aspect of the robotic competition and
members are often requested to conduct media interviews. |

PUBLICITY
TEAMS

JOURNALISTS |
Duties
include:
Develop and maintain newsletters, document
team activities, and write press releases. Must also submit a
4-page entry explaining how River City Robots exhibits excellence in
promoting math and science. Winner is eligible to receive a $10,000
scholarship. Ore Communications, a marketing firm located in Granby
Colorado, will mentor journalists via E-mail

DESIGNERS |
Duties include:
Designs and maintains the team website.
Micro Soft FrontPage will be provided by the River City Robots team,
as well as access to a laptop during team meetings. This is an
ongoing responsibility and will require dedication. Regional awards
are given to teams judged to have the best website.

PHOTOGRAPHERS |
Duties include:
Photographers will be expected to create a
photo essay on the team’s processes though all stages. A digital
camera will be provided during meetings. Photos will be used on our
web-page and promotional brochures. In addition, photographers will
need to video tape competitions for feedback to operators.
Critiquing competition video is an integral part of our team’s
strategic planning. |
